The Superior Court, Georgia's general jurisdiction trial court, has exclusive constitutional authority over felony cases, cases regarding title to land and equity, declaratory judgments, habeas corpus, mandamus, adoptions, name changes, divorces, child custody, and child support enforcement. The South Georgia Judicial Circuit has two judges, Chief Judge A. Wallace Cato and Judge J. Kevin Chason.

District Attorney Joe Mulholland, is responsible for prosecuting felony matters in Superior Court. The District Attorney's Office is located in Decatur County Courthouse Annex at 122 W. Water Street in Bainbridge. Office hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, phone (229) 246-1823.
Public Defender's Office
Chief Public Defender Ernie Sheffield's office is located at 326 W. Water Street in Bainbridge. Office hours are 8:30 a.m. until noon, and from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, phone 229-246-2877.
